Happy Monday everyone… I wanted to share a pic that someone sent me from my home town, New York. I am feeling pretty emotional because the picture of the second single is a picture taken the year my father took me to my first, Times Square movie. It was a film called Uptown Saturday Night, directed by Sydney Poitier… Anyway, the thought that some day I would also have movies showing in Times Square was always a dream I aspired to from the age of seven. What I didn’t think would ever be possible was that I would actually be able to sing for the world. Because you are all so damn supportive of everything I do, I was able to turn a year of Quarantine into a year of magic. Gracias. Thank you for always believing in me. I hope my life makes yours better… all love, always. #DaysAreGone #FeelLikeIDo #Smile
This was the day after I chilled with Kygo at my post Grammy party… for years I have done low tech karaoke for you die hard fans, often showing a different and emotional side. But I was never invited into a professional studio, or never had the courage to try it for real with an engineer and everything. The magician somehow took my voice and and added it to the super talented Selena… Kygo sent over the track today and I am Speechless. Wow. Just speechless.
What an emotional day… when a dream comes true. F8 trailer will launch in seven hours in the very city that my love and passion for film began as a child. I was 5 years old when my father first took us to the movies in Times Square and from that moment I knew what I would dedicate my life to… the art of making film.
We are seven hours away from making history!
There is a good chance I will facebook live the first Times Square trailer debut in history… brace yourself.
Creating an Iconic character is all in the details… Beyond skill set, backstory, voice, style, emotional state, outlook and philosophy… And in Xander’s case, what kind of ink design on his left calf muscle? HaHa. This is going to be FUN!
Last night was surreal. First of all we won the same award that Guardians of the Galaxy won Last year, and before I go up to accept… a big victory hug from the director of Straight outta Compton, who is directing F8! I couldn’t avoid the emotional tone in my acceptance speech. However I managed to just have fun when I presented the Hollywood song award later in the evening. Because the show was not televised I live streamed the second part on my Facebook page. Haha. Half a million people watched live from back stage with me. Pretty epic.
