So proud of this movie and to be the first to bring #Bloodshot 🔴 to life. It’s a role that’s both strong and vulnerable and working on this was an experience unlike any other. Thank you Sony for getting it to the global audience that can’t get to the theater. Check it out now at home on Digital!
Since the first role I ever played in Hollywood, Caparzo in Saving Private Ryan… I’ve always wanted to honor those in service away from loved ones…
As you know, we have often found great talent in the music industry to cross over into film. They are expected to leave all the accolades at the door to embrace the character with integrity… and that is exactly what Ozuna has done. Very proud of your work and role in Fast 9!
Pa Mi Gente! All Love, Always…
Last night I took my mother to the premiere of ‘Spielberg’… You all know it was he who first hired me as an actor in a Hollywood movie. He had watched the short film I directed, Multi-facial and had the role of Carparzo written for me. It was great seeing him and catching up. He reminded me how committed I was to being a director, and gave me a lot to think about…
So there was a lot that happened on the 20th of January… as you know a US prez swap, The Return of Xander Cage… but what you don’t know is that I got a pilot for the new Chronicles of Riddick inspired TV show, Merc City on that date. I have just been so busy I have only just now had a chance to read it. Wow. We all know Pauline is too young for me to actually return to the Dark role of Riddick but this is kind of a big deal. Thanks to Universal for being great partners on this new DT written show.
My favorite role in life…
As you all know I started acting when I was seven years old, and started bouncing in NYC when I was 17 to pay the bills. Failed the first time I came to Hollywood at 23 and then went back to NY to learn how to be a filmmaker because no one was giving me an opportunity to “make it”… I directed a short film called MultiFacial about a struggling multicultural actor trying to work in New York… I then came back to LA with my short film at 27 yrs old. At that time I would drive around with VHS copies of my short film in the trunk just in case I bumped into someone who could help me with my dreams. One day I was driving by the Four Seasons hotel when I saw one of my favorite actors walking into the hotel. Morgan Freeman… he was seriously one of my acting role models, I mean I remembered him from a show called Electric Company and always followed his career. This was my BIG chance, maybe I could after 20 years finally get noticed. So I pulled over, popped the trunk and ran after him to give him my short film…
Sunday night, twenty something years later, he stopped me, and began telling me the whole story of that day in front of the Four Seasons. Wow. It was so surreal! That is the moment that is captured in the picture of my previous post.
@jamesgunn is pretty special. He came to my son’s birthday and my son lit up like he always does. They both have a profound imagination but Jame’s is able to inspire the little angel’s imagination… One that has no bounds. Groot is a character that he created and allowed me to Channel. It is a role that I will always be proud of. My gratitude to him for shaping the most unique character in the Marvel Universe and allowing me to embody and make it my own will never die.
For her first role she really was a natural. Proud of you Ariadna… You took what could have been a average role and made it something special. Thank you for bringing your magic.
There are times when a specific role calls for great physicality… Cage is one of them.
Welcome to the Xander zone.
