What a great day at the premiere for Fast and Furious Spy Racers, an original animated series for Netflix. Dec 26th. Hats off to Universal and DreamWorks for creating a show for the younger audience while maintaining the core values and themes we have become so familiar with in the Saga. The whole cast did great… including the Alpha Angel. Haha. All love Always.
Had the best time celebrating Nina’s 30th this weekend… everyone was such a delight. We collectively wanted to show this little angel how much she means to us…
Happy Birthday Love!
So there was a lot that happened on the 20th of January… as you know a US prez swap, The Return of Xander Cage… but what you don’t know is that I got a pilot for the new Chronicles of Riddick inspired TV show, Merc City on that date. I have just been so busy I have only just now had a chance to read it. Wow. We all know Pauline is too young for me to actually return to the Dark role of Riddick but this is kind of a big deal. Thanks to Universal for being great partners on this new DT written show.
Hold up! It didn’t air yet… you still have time. Jimmy Kimmel enters the Xander Zone tonight!!! The lead up livestream is on my Facebook. Told you this jet lag got me feeling upside down. Haha… let me know what you think of the show tonight.
Last night was so surreal… all the hard work, so many years… You all showed up in Times Square to show the whole fast Family your support and enthusiasm. Fast 8 will challenge the code of family started so many years ago…
As you all know I started acting when I was seven years old, and started bouncing in NYC when I was 17 to pay the bills. Failed the first time I came to Hollywood at 23 and then went back to NY to learn how to be a filmmaker because no one was giving me an opportunity to “make it”… I directed a short film called MultiFacial about a struggling multicultural actor trying to work in New York… I then came back to LA with my short film at 27 yrs old. At that time I would drive around with VHS copies of my short film in the trunk just in case I bumped into someone who could help me with my dreams. One day I was driving by the Four Seasons hotel when I saw one of my favorite actors walking into the hotel. Morgan Freeman… he was seriously one of my acting role models, I mean I remembered him from a show called Electric Company and always followed his career. This was my BIG chance, maybe I could after 20 years finally get noticed. So I pulled over, popped the trunk and ran after him to give him my short film…
Sunday night, twenty something years later, he stopped me, and began telling me the whole story of that day in front of the Four Seasons. Wow. It was so surreal! That is the moment that is captured in the picture of my previous post.
Although the film isn’t even completely done, we were able to show an audience a very early screening of the new xXx The Return of Xander Cage.
LA was where it all started. It was also so cool to see it with so many X games medalists, many of whom have cameos in the film.
Almost 40 million people around the world saw what the PCA’s called their highlight speech… I guess I just want to Thank everyone again who was apart of creating such a great awards show. We needed an award show that reflects our beautiful world.
On behalf of the many great artists you championed that night, we thank you.
Last night Our company had a party to launch Our TV division. Very exciting. MERC CITY is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe.
Next Month, DT begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick… FURIA.
First time anyone went Facebook live to half a million people while onstage at an awards show… Haha.
People’s Choice awards puts me in great company. Best picture nomination is just surreal. Thank you all for the love.
